Preparatory work for the construction of a second tube in the Swiss Gotthard Road Tunnel has been underway since spring 2020. Four tunnel boring machines are carrying out a large part of the central work. Right at the front of the cutterhead in all four tunnel boring machines involved: slewing bearings from Rothe Erde.

Rothe Erde and Sennebogen are celebrating 66 years of successful cooperation this year. Rothe Erde has been supplying slewing bearings for the machines of Sennebogen, a leading manufacturer of cranes and material handling machines, since 1959.

For the first time in Germany, an industrial plant was connected directly to a wind farm at the beginning of June. In future, the thyssenkrupp Hohenlimburg rolling mill will be supplied with an annual average of 40% of its electricity from renewable sources. The plant requires 110 gigawatt hours of electricity per year, which corresponds to around 80 percent of the electricity requirements of the neighboring town of Iserlohn. The efficient and safe operation of the four wind turbines is also ensured by bearings from Rothe Erde.

Rothe Erde and HAWE Hydraulik SE have signed a cooperation agreement as part of WindEnergy Hamburg 2024. The cooperation focuses on the production and further development of Rothe Erde's Pitch Bearing Unit (PBU), with which the Dortmund-based company is launching a complete system solution for wind turbine construction on the market for the first time.

Rothe Erde was awarded the internationally renowned “Silver Dolphin” in the Brand Image Videos category for its image movie in Cannes on Thursday. The award ceremony took place as part of the “Cannes Corporate Media & TV Awards”, one of the world's most important festivals for corporate films. The “Silver Dolphin” is the highest award presented in this category that evening.

Just in time for the 100th anniversary of the death of the Prague writer Frank Kafka on June 3rd, one of the largest sculptures erected in his honor is being restored in his home town. The "Statue of Franz Kafka´s head" is an almost eleven-metre-high mirror sculpture created by artist David Černý in 2014. The sculpture is a so-called kinetic work of art, on which 42 mirrored stainless steel plates move independently of each other. The smooth and reliable movement of the plates is ensured by 42 slewing bearings  from Rothe Erde Slovakia.

thyssenkrupp appoints Lisa Denoyelle as the new Chief Finance Officer (CFO) of thyssenkrupp rothe erde with effect from 1^st July 2024. In that function she will be responsible for Controlling, IT and Human Resources.

With her many years of experience in various functions at thyssenkrupp, Lisa Denoyelle brings not only extensive expertise but also a great deal of international experience and a resilient network within and outside the Group. Lisa Denoyelle succeeds Philipp Conze, who switched to thyssenkrupp Steel Europe as CFO in March.

The "Pitch Bearing Unit" (PBU), a new development from thyssenkrupp rothe erde, has now been awarded the prestigious "Innovation of the Year 2023" gold award by the international trade magazine Windpower Monthly. The "Pitch Bearing Unit" impressed the jury not only because of its technical innovation, but also because it has the potential to significantly simplify the expansion of renewable energy from wind power.

At the turn of the year, Armin Necker took up the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at the globally active Rothe Erde Group. The 47-year-old succeeds Dr. Wilfried Spintig, who is leaving the company at his own request. As CTO, Armin Necker is responsible for research, application technology consulting and the development and production of rolling bearings and seamless rolled rings for the Group worldwide.

Europe's largest movable lift-and-turn bridge is located in a town with barely 4,000 inhabitants. The 400-meter-long "Verbindingsbrug" is located in the Belgian Port of Antwerp-Bruges. The middle section can be turned through 90 degrees over a length of 130 meters within a few minutes. The reliable and smooth rotation is made possible by a roller bearing from thyssenkrupp rothe erde.

A house that aligns itself with the sun. What sounds fantastic is reality in Heuchelheim an der Lahn in Hesse. Christopher Rinn, carpenter and managing director of DrehHaus GmbH, designed and built four rotating houses. To enable the revolving house to rotate, it stands on a rothe erde^® slewing bearing, or more precisely on a double-row double four-point bearing with a diameter of 2,700 millimeters and a weight of around 1.2 tons.

At this year's "Girls' Day," 13 adolescents aged between twelve and 15 dared to take a look behind the scenes at thyssenkrupp rothe erde. "There is absolutely no reason why girls should not pursue vocational training in our field – they do the job at least as well as the boys," said Training Director Andreas Deutsch.

The carbonisation plant at the thyssenkrupp rothe erde site in Lippstadt is unique in its dimension nationwide and integrates negative emission technology in a German industrial group for the first time. The heat generated in the pyrolysis process covers around 40% of the heat demand on site.

The production facility in Nashik in western India, which has been in operation since 2007, can produce an additional 1,300 blade bearings per year. The bearings have a diameter of up to five metres and can be used as blade bearings in both onshore and offshore wind turbines.

The "Weltzeituhr" on Alexanderplatz in Berlin has been turning for over 50 years. Since its inauguration in 1969, it has been running almost continuously, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In 2015, it was listed as a historical monument and with it the technology, including a large-diameter antifriction bearing.
