My career

Plant manager

Back to the roots: This is how you can describe my career - at least regionally - as I grew up about 20 km from my current place of work. In the "meantime" I studied mechanical engineering at TU Dortmund University, specializing in materials technology. Through employment as a student assistant and various internships, including in Switzerland, I was able to put my theoretical knowledge into practice and earn a living. I then moved to Aachen, where I worked as a project manager and later group leader at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology and had the opportunity to do my doctorate at the WZL at RWTH Aachen University. As I was heavily involved in various machining production processes, the management of (inter)national projects and, last but not least, organizational and strategic issues during this time, Rothe Erde was at the top of my list when it came to planning my future career. My subsequent application process as a direct entrant confirmed the positive image I had of Rothe Erde up to that point: prompt feedback on my application documents and an open interview at eye level.

I am currently working at the Lippstadt plant in the project production of slewing bearings as a plant manager.

I didn't have a fixed career goal - so as a child/teenager I thought about different professions. All my "dream jobs" had one thing in common: they had to be varied, challenging, responsible and ultimately fun. That's exactly what I find at Rothe Erde.

My challenges

One of the most important tasks in my job is certainly cross-departmental collaboration. The overriding objective here is always to deliver a high-quality product on time and in line with the customer's cost requirements. It doesn't matter whether this involves coordination with upstream departments in the production process (e.g. engineering, design), discussions with employees on the store floor or answering customers' technology-specific questions.

My typical working day

One of the main things I appreciate about my work is the complexity of the tasks. In my day-to-day work, I deal with issues such as the implementation of new technologies in production, feasibility studies, specifications for machine procurement and production planning. At the same time, of course, there is the central component of "day-to-day business", with the aim of ensuring a smooth production process.

Our slogan is "engineering. tomorrow. together." For me, together means ...

... working together to further develop our products, our location and ultimately Rothe Erde.

My employer Rothe Erde

I can only recommend Rothe Erde as an employer - and I have already done so several times. The main points that motivate me to make this statement are the complexity, internationality and innovative capacity of the Group. I also like the internal further education and training opportunities that are provided on and off the job.
